Vape liquid — e-liquid, vape juice, or e-juice — is the liquid you use in your vape kit: different names, same product. As vaping has become more popular, most people now say vape rather than e-cigarette, which is why you’ll see so many variations.
So, what is vape liquid? It’s the part you inhale when you vape. If you’re using a refillable kit, you just squeeze the liquid into your pod or tank until it’s full — quick, clean, and simple.
Every bottle of vape juice is made with four main ingredients: propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerol (VG), flavourings, and nicotine (optional). They may sound technical, but these are the same kinds of ingredients you’ll find in everyday food and drink products
When you use a vape kit, the liquid is gently heated by the device to create vapour. This delivers a smooth, satisfying sensation that feels similar to smoking, but without the dangerous chemicals found in traditional cigarettes.
There are different types of vape juice, and choosing the right one depends on your device. Don’t worry — we’ll guide you through the options below so you can find the perfect match for your vape.
Freebase E-Liquid – Classic Vape Juice with a Strong Throat Hit
Our best-selling vape juice with nicotine, Freebase e-liquid is loved for delivering a familiar, satisfying hit that closely mirrors the sensation of smoking. With a slightly higher pH, Freebase provides a stronger throat hit compared to Nic Salts, making it a popular choice for former smokers who want that classic feel from their vape.
At Vampire Vape, we refer to Freebase as our Standard 10ml E-Liquid, available in 10ml bottles. Unlike many retailers, we don’t stick to a fixed 50:50 PG/VG ratio across all nicotine strengths. Instead, our Freebase range has a higher PG content (except in 3mg), which enhances flavour and gives a smoother, more enjoyable mouth-to-lung experience on lower wattage kits. They also perform brilliantly on higher-powered devices, unlocking even richer flavour delivery.
Available in 5 nicotine strengths, from 18mg right down to 0mg, Vampire Vape’s 10ml Freebase liquids are perfect for Starter Kits, Pod Kits and Pen Kits.

Nic Salts – Smooth, Fast-Acting Vape Juice
Nic Salts (short for nicotine salts or bar salts) are made from natural nicotine salts from tobacco leaves. They’re designed to absorb into the body faster than traditional freebase e-liquids, delivering a quicker nicotine hit with a smooth throat feel — even at higher strengths.
One reason Nic Salt e-liquids have become so popular is that they’re the same type of liquid used in disposable vapes, prefilled pods, and pod kits. So, when vapers make the switch from disposables to refillable kits, Nic Salts often feel like the most natural choice.
Our Nic Salts, available in 10ml bottles, come in 2–4 strengths depending on the range, from 20mg down to 0mg. They’re ideal for Starter Kits, Pod Kits, and Pen Kits, giving you flexibility whether you prefer higher nicotine or a nicotine-free option.
Not sure whether to choose Bar Salts or Nic Salts? Bar Salts are blended to replicate the sweet, punchy flavours found in disposables, while our classic Nic Salts offer more layered, complex flavour profiles — similar to our Standard 10ml freebase liquids.

Shortfill vape liquids are also referred to as Shortz. They are completely nicotine-free and come in larger bottles of either 50ml or 100ml. They also have a higher percentage of VG. This is because they are designed for Sub-Ohm Vape Kits which have low-resistance coils that produce larger clouds. These types of kits are usually more expensive and larger than a pod kit, and they have replaceable parts such as tanks and mods.
Shortfills get their name because the bottles are short-filled, essentially, they’re not filled to the top. This allows vapers to add 10ml to 20ml of nicotine, up to their desired strength in the form of Nic Shots. Our 60ml bottles contain 50ml of vape liquid. This means that if someone added a 10ml Nic Shot at 18mg, this would achieve a 60ml liquid at 3mg strength.
Vaping enthusiasts are more likely to buy Shortfills because the bottles last longer than the 10ml equivalent. It’s also more cost-effective, saving money and plastic waste.
Longfill vape liquids are fairly new to the market and relatively misunderstood. Similar to Shortfills, they are completely nicotine-free and come in 60ml bottles. They contain 20ml of flavoured concentrate in 50VG and 50PG. This leaves 30ml of space for vapers to add more Base Liquid of VG and PG and a Nic Shot. In brief, Longfills are concentrated liquids that require dilution.
Depending on how the vape is mixed, determines which vape kits are suitable.
High VG liquids are typically available in 70/30 and 80/20 blends in 50ml and 100ml volumes. Higher VG vape liquids are perfect for larger cloud production and a smoother vape best suited for Sub-Ohm vaping and higher-wattage devices. We also offer a range of 10ml liquids with a higher VG content available in 0mg to 18mg nicotine strengths, these are perfect for vapers who have an aversion to PG liquid.
Higher PG liquids offer many benefits over 50/50 blends and high VG liquids, including faster absorption rates, more intense flavour, and a stronger throat hit, similar to smoking. As a result, high-PG liquids help satisfy cravings more quickly.
After considerable research and testing, Vampire Vape based its standard 10ml range of freebase vape liquids on a higher 40/60 PG blend to be more compatible with lower wattage devices and pod kits, as it is thinner, allowing it to wick quicker and avoiding buildup on coils, extending coil life. Higher PG blends are perfect for vape starter kits, pod kits and new vapers. Our range of 10ml higher-PG liquids is available in standard freebase nicotine strengths from 0mg to 18mg (except 3mg).
Flavour Concentrates are exactly as they sound, highly concentrated bottles of 10ml or 30ml flavourings. They are completely nicotine-free and contain no VG or PG. This enables DIYs to experiment, creating their vape liquid flavours, blends and recipes.
Therefore, to mix Flavoured Concentrates, vapers will need Base Liquid diluents in the form of VG and/or PG and Nic Shots. We also sell a range of DIY Mixing Kits containing syringes, needles, empty bottles and more to enable vapers to get started on their DIY journey.

Vampire Vape is a leading UK premium retailer of Flavoured Concentrates. Our range is one of the best and most extensive on the market, even if we do say so ourselves. We sell Concentrates in 10ml and 30ml bottles.
If you're a new vaper, the amount of nicotine is essential, too little, and it won't quell the craving, too high and it may make you feel nauseous.
If you are using vaping as a way to quit smoking, then a suitable nicotine strength would be between 6mg and 18mg, depending on how often you smoke. If you have been vaping for a while and wish to reduce your nicotine dependency, one advantage of vape liquids is that you can slowly reduce the amount of nicotine in stages, from 18mg down to 3mg. High-strength liquids are best suited to vape pens, pod kits and other starter vape kits. Lower strengths are best suited to ohm kits as opposed to vape starter kits and pen kits because the hit will be too overpowering.
VG and PG levels affect the thickness and flavour of the vape liquid. VG liquid is a thicker and sweeter liquid with a smoother inhale, making higher VG liquids (70/30) more suited to Sub-Ohm (higher-wattage) vaping. By comparison, PG liquid is thinner and carries the flavour better while delivering a harsher inhale, making higher PG liquids (60/40) better for smoking cessation and all-day vaping in lower-wattage devices.

Our expert Andrew explains the different types of vape liquids available, including the different bottle sizes and nicotine strengths.
This video explains the differences between Freebase and Nic Salts, including their effects and how they work.
Again, Andrew talks you through the best way to store your e-liquid, recommending a cool, dry, dark place like a cupboard to preserve the quality.
Vape juice is available in a range of nicotine strengths, flavours and mix ratios, VG and PG, allowing new and existing vapers to choose something that suits their vaping requirements, resulting in a more satisfying vaping experience. Vape liquids are available as standard 10ml liquids with nicotine or in larger bottles like 50ml shortfills, which require separate nicotine shots to add nicotine. Finding a favourite flavour is a great first step in any vaping journey, whether it's a standard 10ml or a nicotine salt vape liquid. Make sure the flavour intensity is just right for you and you won't get tired of it right away!
How you store your vape liquid plays a big part in the loss of flavour and will affect the nicotine. Direct sunlight and heat can break down the components in your liquid, making it less effective. It is recommended that if you intend to keep your liquid for any length of time, you should keep your liquids in a cool dark place, like in a cupboard, away from any source of heat. We suggest that you always store your e-liquids in a safe place, away from children and pets.
It's important to remember that the additives in vape liquid, like the VG and PG liquids, have a shelf life and break down over time. All Vampire Vape e-liquids have an expiry date on them, usually about two years from the date of manufacture. If your e-liquid is stored correctly, you can ensure that your e-liquid will last.
Most vape liquid bottles will be made from plastic, usually LDPE, HDPE, or PET. All these plastics are recyclable, especially PET, which is widely recycled, but you may need to check with your local authority to see if they’re recycling the others. At Vampire Vape, we make our vape liquid bottles out of PET plastic, which can be easily recycled. This is the most widely recycled plastic, often used for single-use clear plastic bottles. PET can be recycled into polyester fabrics, carpets and cushion fillings. Our bottle nibs are made of HDPE, which is also easy to recycle. You might have to check with your local authority to ensure it is recycled in your area. Plastics like HSPE are recycled into new pens and detergent bottles. Our caps are made of PP plastic, which can also be recycled. You might need to check with your local authority to make sure they have the capabilities to recycle PP products. PP plastic can be recycled into brooms, brushes, garden rakes and plastic trays. When recycling your vape liquid bottles, ensure they are clear of liquid or nicotine residue.
