Can you Vape on a Golf Course?

While the weather is still icy this time of year, it’s getting sunnier every day. Whether you’re partial to the game of golf yourself, or you’re eager to visit some professionals at a tournament, it’s super important to follow etiquette. Most professional golf courses have dress codes and other regulations in place that help keep their members rotating on the course. These sorts of regulations vary from place to place and because some golf clubs can be quite exclusive for new members, it can be important to make you leave the right impression so you can keep your membership card in the long run.

So let’s get back to the original question: can you vape on a golf course? The answer is yes.

Most clubs will allow their members to vape of their own free will so long as they do not interfere with the rate of play or obscure the vision of other players who are trying to keep their eye on the golf ball. Smoking on golf courses is a highly contested topic primarily because it can contribute to a concerning litter problem on the pruned grass. This is why smoking is often forbidden. Vaping however is far more benign and as long as you don’t leave any sort of mess behind on the course custodial staff will likely take no concern over you vaping your favourite Vampire Vape flavours.

It is worth noting however that certain tournaments will have varying rules regarding vaping. This is often because of the way that excessive vapour can block the field of view for those in the crowd watching professionals and how it can impede the field of view for cameras that film professional golfers. Those who visit golf tournaments will have the choice to either follow a particular player around the entire course or will post up at a certain position to watch every competitor play through. This foot traffic will likely culminate at the final 18th hole every day of the competition so will garner a huge amount of spectators. Vaping in these highly condensed crowds is not advised. Vaping at this point might cause people around you to become irritable, especially if this is a tense point of the contest day when players are in a putting contest for the grand prize. Even if you believe everyone loves the smell of your vape juice, waiting for this anxious moment to pass will be beneficial for those watching the contest and will not distract them from the sport they have paid to watch.

Other courses -  and the famous Masters golf contest in Augustus Georgia - have rules in place that prohibit a number of items from being brought into the tournament. In addition to phones and cameras, no electronic devices are allowed on the course. Other prohibited items include flags, banners, signs, food and drink, and large bags. Vaping at contests is again a rule that often changes from venue to venue, for example, at the Ryder Cup, electronics are not prohibitedIt’s advised that if you feel unsure about vaping there we advise that you either ask the custodial staff at the entrance or research the spectator guide beforehand about vaping policies and practices.
