If you’re new to vaping, you’re more than likely going to be overwhelmed with the amount of terminology used throughout the industry. A lot of information you need to take in when you’re starting with next to no idea.

One of the terms used when choosing a device are both DTL & MTL. Don’t worry, this isn’t some scientific jargon you are expected to know as a beginner. However, it is best to know the difference so you can make an informed choice on which device best suited to you.

MTL

Mouth to lung vaping is the process of inhaling the vapour into your mouth before ‘taking it back’ into your lungs. This is a popular method used by those wanting to give up smoking as it mimics the effects of smoking. MTL devices are more suited to liquid with a higher PG. a 50% PG/ 50% VG works very well.

DTL

Direct to lung vaping is a much more natural way to inhale vapour. The technology in these devices are newer to market and are of more advanced set ups to allow the DTL process to happen. It replicates breathing as there is no need to gather the vapour in your mouth before inhaling into the lungs. This allows for more flavour, bigger hits and larger clouds. On a personal level for those new to vapours, we suggest putting your mouth on the device and inhale with a slow, deep breath. If you do inhale a DTL device with a MTL intake, you may experience a bit of burning in your mouth. DTL devices are suited to higher VG liquids so look out for 70/30 & 80/20 VG to PG ratios when purchasing.
