Here's our guide to vape kits and e-cigarettes:
Choosing the best vape kits for different vaping styles, from beginner to experienced vapers, involves considering various factors such as ease of use, performance, features, and personal preferences.
Beginner Vapers:
- Pod Systems: Considered ideal for beginners due to their simplicity and ease of use. Look for pod systems with prefilled or refillable pods, draw-activated firing mechanisms, and compact designs for portability. Examples include the Smok Nord Pod Kits or the Vaporesso XROS pod kits.
- Vape Pens: The first vape device that proved popular with new vapers. Designed to be simple to operate, and provide an experience similar to smoking, the modern vape pens have many features like auto fire, adjustable airflow, and a choice of coils to suit different e-liquids and vaping styles.
Intermediate Vapers:
- All-in-One (AIO) Devices: A step up from pod systems, AIO devices offer more customisation options and often have replaceable coils. Look for devices with adjustable airflow, variable wattage, and compatibility with different coil types. Examples include the Aspire Flexus or the GeekVape Aegis range.
Experienced Vapers:
- Box Mods: Popular among experienced vapers for their advanced features and customisation options. Look for box mods with high wattage capabilities, temperature control modes, and compatibility with sub-ohm tanks or rebuildable atomisers (RBAs). Examples include the Vaporesso Target range or the Voopoo Drag range.
Advanced Vapers:
- Mechanical Mods: Highly recommended only for vapers with a thorough understanding of Ohm's law, battery safety, and coil building. Mechanical mods offer a direct power output without regulation or many safety features, relying on rebuildable coils and tanks to achieve the best vaping experience. Examples include the Fush Nano Mods.
Style of Vaping:
- MTL (Mouth to Lung) for new vapers: Choose vape kits with higher resistance coils (1.1 Ohm and higher) and tighter airflow for a similar experience to smoking. Pod systems and AIO devices with MTL coils are well-suited for this style.
- DL (Direct Lung) for experienced vapers: Opt for vape kits with lower resistance coils (Sub-Ohm 0.1 to 0.8), higher wattage output (80W to 200W), and adjustable airflow for large vapour production and intense flavour. Box mods paired with sub-ohm tanks or RBAs are ideal for DL vaping.
When selecting vape kits, consider factors such as battery life, indicated by the mAh setting (the higher, the better), charging options like USB type-C for internal batteries, ease of tank or pod filling and airflow adjustment, coil wattage and Ohm resistance range, and availability of replacement parts and e-liquids.
