Kick it in the Butt

As a company, we’re extremely enthusiastic about Stoptober because our ultimate goal is to get people to quit smoking. We understand the dangers of smoking and if we want to minimise the effect it has on people’s health. We’re in full support of Stoptober and believe it’s a very important month in the year that could potentially save hundreds of lives.

Stoptober is a month-long campaign set up by Public Health England to encourage people to give up smoking.

The program was launched in 2012 following reports that found that it costs the NHS £2.7bn per year in treating smoking-related illnesses and diseases.

Following the success of the initial program which had 250,000 people register to take part, the Stoptober campaign became an annual October event.

Research found that if a person gives up cigarettes for 28 days then they are FIVE times more likely to quit for good.

Last year Stoptober incorporated e-cigarettes into their campaign after Public Health England found vaping to be 95% less harmful than smoking. While there are nicotine therapy programs such as gum, patches and counselling, e-cigarettes have proven to be the most effective method. The BBC reported that 2.9 million people in the UK with about 470,000 using the devices as an aid to quit smoking.
