Vaping shops have been given the thumbs up by the Royal Society of Public Health after the government body declared the shops contribute to health on the high-street.

RSPH’s new report has found that vape shops break the negative stigma around vaping and instead encourage people to ditch the cigarettes.

This is a huge step forward for the industry as the IBVTA found that only 17% of the public and 25% of smokers believe that e-cigarettes are a lot less harmful than smoking. These are low figures, considering earlier this year, Public Health England stated that e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than cigarettes.

Despite this, Britain has the largest e-cigarette market in Europe which has grown massively since 2005 when the devices were first introduced in the market. A survey by ASH found that an estimated 2.9 million Brits vape, with 1.5 million of these being ex-smokers.

Due to the number of people that now vape, government bodies have researched and scrutinised the devices. In 2016 TPD came into force which limited nicotine amounts per bottle and regulated the ingredients used in e-liquid.

Since then many prominent officials have promoted e-cigarettes. Last August MPs called for a relaxation on rules for the devices, stating that they are the forefront to helping achieve the goal for a tobacco-free England in the next ten years.

The NHS have similar views and even promoted e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking in their Stoptober campaign.

The rise in support of e-cigarettes and now in vape shops is a massive boost for the industry. Vaping on a whole is often faced with negative facts which often prove to be misleading and untruthful, especially to legitimate e-liquid manufacturers.

According to the RSPH, an estimated 22,000 people or more are quitting smoking each year due to e-cigarettes. Having access to vape stores with helpful and knowledgeable staff has encouraged more and more people to switch from smoking to vaping.

The new report has been welcomed by the IBVTA and now by Vampire Vape. What do you think about the new report by RSPH?
