How vaping helped me, the stories from our customers to you!

Smoking is a hard habit to kick. The nicotine in cigarettes is highly addictive, which can make quitting cold-turkey a difficult task. The longer you smoke the more your body gets used to having nicotine, but the more you smoke, the more nicotine you need to feel normal. When you quit, your body starts to crave cigarettes, and it can feel uncomfortable. This is withdrawal.

Coping with this can be stressful, it can make you gain weight, and it can affect your performance in work and social outings etc.

Stop smoking programmes can be helpful as they teach you how to handle the symptoms of quitting. However, for some, these methods aren’t as successful as the cravings win-out.

Alternatives like e-cigarettes are now being pushed as it enables smokers to get the nicotine hit without the tobacco element that is linked to illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. Public Health England has openly said vaping is 95% safer than smoking.

The British Psychological Society reported that 2.9 million people in the UK now use e-cigarettes and that around 52% of these are ex-smokers. This is a huge number of people that have successfully ditched cigarettes because of an e-cigarette.

Given the large number, we decided to reach out to Vampire Vape customers and ask their story. We asked them how they quit and how much of an impact this has had on their health and wellbeing and here is what they said.

Jose, Spain, 34:

I only stopped smoking in September 2017, and I can’t believe how easy it was. I didn’t have much knowledge of vaping or really considered buying one but a teacher at the institute where I work convinced me to give it a try.

I wasn’t sure about it, and I didn’t think it would work, but I decided I’d try anyway. I could always go back to smoking if I didn’t like it.

Now, I wouldn’t even consider a cigarette. On my wedding day in May 2016, I had a celebratory cigar, and I couldn’t even finish it, and that was the last time I smoked.

Since I started vaping I’ve noticed an improvement in my physical state, my dentist has even commented saying that my teeth are much healthier.

It’s been an amazing journey, and I’ve experimented with all types of flavours. My favourite for a long time was Heisenberg, but this changed after I tried Blood Sukka.

Vaping has transformed my life, I enjoy it much more than smoking, and I really like the unique flavours that you can vape.

I originally started smoking when I was 14 through a mixture of peer pressure and the desire to look cool to the older kids at school. At first, it was a few a day and only around my friends, fast forward a decade, and I’m smoking more than a pack a day, and I can no longer run, smell anything and once they banned smoking in public places I had to go outside while all my non-smoking friends laughed at me. Yet, despite all of that, I carried on smoking.

One day, my son came to me, very upset. They’d been talking about smoking at school and the dangers and health risks associated with it, and basically, he didn’t want me to die through smoking.

So, at 27 I decided to have a look at the alternatives, I tried the gum, the patches and even that nasty liquid that you put on your tongue that supposedly makes cigarettes taste disgusting but none of it worked. I just couldn’t kick the addiction!

Then, I saw a friend at a party with one of those little pen e-cigarettes, I tried it, and I liked it so the next day I bought a starter kit and some menthol juice. It worked for a week or so, but then I relapsed because I was missing the smoke too much. I started smoking again and hiding it from my family.

The thing is, when you’re stood at the end of your own road after work chewing gum and trying to get rid of the smell of smoke so that your family don’t know, you just feel like a criminal. I hated the feeling so much that I made the decision to try vaping again.

I went to a vape shop that had recently opened up in my town. I told them I wanted something with a kick and a completely different flavour to smokes. I dropped £80 and came out with an Innokin Coolfire 4 Sub OHM kit which was amazing.

I had a look at the flavour menus of all of the different brands they had, and I made a joke about the Heisenberg e-liquid and the guy at the shop let me try it. To this day it’s still my all day vape probably about 80% of the time.

It's now been more than five years since my last cigarette and the best thing so far, though? My taste buds have come back. I’m fitter and stronger at 32 than I was at 22, and I know that I’ve significantly reduced the risks associated with all the junk in cigarettes.

My knowledge of vaping has evolved, and I understand what works for me. Not only do I use the sub-ohm tanks, but I now have RDA’s and RTA’s, and sometimes, I even mix my own juices at home and build my own coils too.

Vaping has changed my life and ever since quitting, I’ve been actively promoting vaping to people that smoke as an alternative.

Christine, 60, Manchester

I smoked from the age of 16 and was smoking around six a day. I’ve tried quitting many times, but I never managed to quit entirely.

I wasn’t overly sure about e-cigarettes, but my family convinced me to give it a try. I bought a pen-style e-cigarette a few years back, but after a few months, I returned to smoking as it didn’t satisfy my needs.

It was only when my daughter bought an Aspire Pockex that I decided I’d give vaping another go. I got the same device, and I’ve never looked back. The larger battery enabled me to get the satisfaction I needed, and I’m happy to say I no longer smoke.

I really like the minty flavours, and berry menthol is probably my favourite because it’s really subtle with a refreshing mint.

Getting an e-cigarette has helped me quit a habit that I never thought I could. Ever since quitting, the horrible smell has gone, I don’t have to smoke outside, and my house and clothes don’t smell of smoke. It’s been a great transition which I didn’t think was possible.

Hazel, 27, UK

I started smoking back when I was in school. I was only 15, but I was being bullied, and I thought to myself that if I smoked, then I will fit in. So, I bought my first pack of cigarettes and then another and another, but the bullying never let up, and during that time, I’d become addicted to cigarettes.

I did try to quit smoking and bought an e-cigarette at the beginning of 2017. I did really well for about a month, but my circumstances changed, and I was very stressed. I began smoking again.

I completely lost motivation in quitting until I met my current boyfriend. He vaped, and it encouraged me to give it another try. I made it my New Year’s resolution to quit, and with his help, I did it. It’s been almost eight months since my last cigarette

It’s got to the point now that I can be around smokers and not even want a cigarette, the smell disgusts me now.

I’m glad for vapes as it still gives me the throat hit, with much better flavours, no bad breath, or smelly clothes or hair.

Plus, I feel so much healthier, and since I quit, and I’ve even helped a few of my friends and family switch to vaping as well.

Gavin, 57, Essex:

Let me tell you about my vaping journey. I'm 57 years old, and I was smoking 30 odd Marlborough Lights a day for way too many years.

Looking back, I now realise how bad I must have smelt. Sometimes I’ll be standing behind a smoker in a queue while shopping and think WOW I smelt like that once and I’m so pleased that I don’t smell like this now. If you were still allowed to smoke in a pub, then I would now never go in one again because I can't stand the smell.

It was about eight years ago that I got into vaping and I started with a simple pen device, I’ve since moved onto more elaborate tanks and mods, and I build my own coils that suit my vaping preferences at a given time.

The only problem I’ve encountered is that I couldn’t find liquids that satisfied me. Over time I have found the companies that produce quality flavours tobacco flavours that I like.

About ten months ago, I decided to start my own YouTube channel, Gavin Vaping, so that I could help fellow vapers to find liquids with ease.

I do my best to give an honest review of an e-liquid, so my followers get full disclosure. My channel has snowballed, and I now have nearly 9,000 viewers.

I'm so pleased I've found vaping I've saved money, feel so much healthier and don't stink of stale cigarettes.
